 Table of Contents for this Page Need an idea of what is available in the Forums? For the Ladies A Private Forum for "Ladies Only" who have/had a support relationship to men with prostate cancer. Welcome to this Forum. For the Men A Private Forum "Exclusively Men" who are prostate cancer patients or have a close relationship to a man with prostate cancer. We are dedicated to educating men and women about Prostate Cancer, its treatments and side effects, so that they will be better prepared to participate actively in the choices and care of himself or the patient throughout the course of their illness. A wealth of information, advice and research is offered to all regarding possible treatments that may consider in consultation with their medical team. Innovative ideas based on adaptations from personal experiences are also discussed. A safe place is provided to help deal with both medical and non-medical concerns, and also the emotional and life style changes that accompany the diagnosis of Prostate Cancer. Prostate Cancer is our main priority, and all other discussions, although important, are secondary to our main focus. We believe that 'Knowledge Is Power'! Remember these forums are for Men and Ladies exclusively and the members must be connected now or in the past with someone diagnosed with prostate cancer. Could be a father, husband, boyfriend, relative or friend. Therefore the only two conditions are: 1. Must be a lady to join the Ladies Only Forum and a man to join the Exclusively Men forum. 2. Must have a close connection to a man who has or has had prostate cancer. We are dealing everyday with private medical information and it is important that we treat it accordingly. Your participation in the Forums and other Prostate-Help offerings and the reading of information provided on the Prostate-Help web sites will, by default, indicate that you have read and fully understood our rules and the legal and other information provided by clicking on Copyright / Fair Use for PHCa Groups & Forums. Please understand that the information you post could possibly be made available on the Internet - we are yet to see this happen. We try our best to protect this information and so far we it has been protected. The most likely (and maybe only way) that it could happen is if someone copied another members post to someplace else. Of course if this happened they would immediately be removed and banned as a member. If you meet the above qualifications and want to join with the other members discussing this disease start by reading the information for the Ladies "here" and then for the Men "here"and then click through to the form and fill out the necessary information and you will be notified when you are offically a member. If you would like to see the actual Forums it can be seen by clicking "Ladies Only" Forum or "Exclusively For Men" Forum. Be aware if you are not a member - you can only see the small public portion of the Forum. You will not be able to post anything or see the restricted areas. Come back here to join. It shows what the members are concerned about and want to talk with others in the same boat - all in the privacy of the Forum. These sub-forums are only available to those who have registered - they cannot be seen by others. We have a Team of members who have developed into very knowledgeable members on prostate cancer and how to help others. At the present time the Ladies have posted over 25,000 posts on an average of just under 50 posts every day. Yes it is busy and when you look at the topics above you can see why. "The Lounge" is the general meeting place and it alone accounts for nearly 18,000 of the 25,000 posts. Here anything can be discussed and I mean anything. Since the men's forum is new (started March 17, 2008) we will have to wait and see how active it is. If this seems to fit you - you are most welcome to join and enter into the discussions. By the way these discussions are maybe the most civil and supportive of any other group that I have seen. To join all you have to do is the go to the "Ladies Application Form" page for the ladies or the "Exclusively Men Application Page". Here fill in the blanks, click on "Submit" and wait for an email of your acceptance. It is a wonderful place to find support, encouragement, direction when you or a loved one has prostate cancer. |
